Crispy Cheesy Roll Ups (Printer-friendly)

Golden, crunchy rolls filled with gooey mozzarella; quick to bake or pan-fry and ideal for dipping.

# What you'll need:

→ Main

01 - 8 slices white sandwich bread, crusts removed
02 - 8 sticks mozzarella cheese or cheddar cheese
03 - 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
04 - 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

→ Seasonings

05 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
06 - 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
07 - Salt, to taste
08 - Black pepper, to taste

# Method:

01 - Preheat oven to 400°F or heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat if pan frying.
02 - Using a rolling pin, flatten each bread slice to approximately 1/4 inch thickness.
03 - Place a cheese stick along the short edge of each flattened bread slice. Roll bread tightly around cheese and seal the edge with a dab of melted butter.
04 - Brush the exterior of each roll up generously with melted butter.
05 - Combine Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian herbs. Sprinkle mixture evenly over the buttered roll ups.
06 - Place the prepared roll ups seam-side down on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
07 - Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden and crisp. Alternatively, pan fry and rotate until evenly browned and the cheese is melted.
08 - Serve warm, accompanied by marinara or preferred dipping sauce.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • No matter how hectic your day gets, these warm roll ups come together in just about fifteen minutes.
  • They're endlessly customizable and disappear quickly at parties or after-school snack times.
02 -
  • If you forget to fully seal the edge with butter, the cheese will try to escape halfway through baking.
  • Switching from packaged cheese sticks to slices from a block made the gooey factor off the charts.
03 -
  • Lining your pan with parchment means zero sticky mess and perfectly crisp roll ups every time.
  • Give each roll up a little space on the tray so the sides get golden, not soggy.
