A flavorful turkey patty layered with avocado and Swiss cheese on a toasted bun.

# What you'll need:

→ Turkey Patties

01 - 1 lb ground turkey (preferably 93% lean)
02 - 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
03 - 1 large egg
04 - 2 tbsp finely chopped red onion
05 - 1 garlic clove, minced
06 - 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
07 - 1/2 tsp salt
08 - 1/4 tsp black pepper

→ Toppings

09 - 4 slices Swiss cheese
10 - 1 large avocado, sliced
11 - 1 medium tomato, sliced
12 - 4 lettuce leaves

→ For Serving

13 - 4 burger buns, split and toasted
14 - 2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional)
15 - 1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)

# Method:

01 - Combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, red onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix gently until just combined; avoid overmixing to prevent tough patties.
02 - Divide mixture into 4 equal portions and form into patties approximately 1/2 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
03 - Heat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the surface to prevent sticking.
04 - Place patties on the preheated surface and cook for 5 to 6 minutes per side. Cook until fully cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F.
05 - During the final minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty. Cover with a lid to allow the cheese to melt completely.
06 - Toast the split burger buns cut side down until golden and lightly crisped.
07 - Spread mayonnaise and/or mustard on the toasted buns as desired.
08 - Layer each burger with lettuce, turkey patty with melted cheese, avocado slices, and tomato. Place the top bun and serve immediately.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The creamy avocado balances perfectly with the rich Swiss cheese, creating that satisfying burger indulgence without the heavy feeling of beef
  • These burgers come together in 30 minutes flat, making them perfect for weeknight dinners when you want something real but dont have hours to spend
02 -
  • Overmixing the turkey mixture is the biggest mistake you can make, leading to dense, tough burgers instead of tender ones
  • Letting the patties rest for a few minutes after shaping helps them hold together better on the grill, giving you that perfect restaurant style result
03 -
  • Make a small indentation in the center of each raw patty with your thumb, which prevents them from puffing up into a ball shape while cooking
  • Let the cooked patties rest for a couple of minutes before assembling so the juices redistribute instead of running out onto your plate
